  • About

Activity

ACTIVITIES
a.       Speaking 

Every day Conversations

-          Goers have to speak English, and everyone shares the same table.
-          Facilitators speak to them first, group them and guide them to talk about a certain popular topic (according to the goer’s level of English) for about half an hour, then let them have free talks with facilitators’ assistance. 
-          SPEAK UP holds some listening activities for goers to improve their listening skills.
-          SPEAK UP holds games for goers to improve their speaking skill, or to enrich their vocabulary 
-          SPEAK UP shows goers some speaking video clips to improve their speaking skill.

Public speaking

-          In every session, there is a tutoring period of 30 minutes, guiding goers how to use functions of English by watching video clips with handouts. Then let them practise what they have given. 
-          This activity is followed by a topic discussion. A handout is given to each with the help of a facilitator. After the discussion, some will present their ideas or opinions on the topic they have just discussed. A gift may be given to the best if possible. 
-          Then let them have free talks with facilitators’ assistance. 
-          Sing to lean: 3 songs a week

2. Weekly Seminar

a.  2 Programs on Saturday and Sunday

b. Ways of Learning English

One professor or teacher of English will talk about ways of leaning English: Listening, speaking, reading, writing, and vocabulary.

INTRODUCTION



SPEAK UP is a place where people of different backgrounds can get together, come and practice English with others, while enjoying a cup of drink. We welcome everyone even those who are not confident with talking in English. The most important thing is to try to talk and listen in English. Our staffs are kind and friendly and will help you have fun conversations as well as improve your English. We are looking forward meeting you at SPEAK UP.


SPEAK UP is similar to normal cafes, except that you talk and everyone shares the same table. Only English is used for the conversation. Even in the conversations among Vietnamese, the English language is used. People from all over the city get together at SPEAK UP. The SPEAK UP staff is also English Speakers. Let's improve our English in an enjoyable and educational atmosphere together.


A special feature of the SPEAK UP is that the English Cafe and English school have been combined. Of course you can choose to only use the cafe, but we also have very affordable English environment on the second floor. At SPEAK UP, we are planning to have several different levels of English groups  everyday. We believe learning English in lessons and then using English in free conversation at SPEAK UP will be very effective for improving your English. Importantly SPEAK UP's drink fee is also very cheap compared to the others.
